    How LATAM check-in generally works

    General timings. Exact windows depend on the airport, the country and whether your flight is domestic or international.

    Online and app check-in:

    LATAM check-in on latam.com and the LATAM app generally opens around 48 hours before departure and closes a set time before the flight. It's the easiest way and usually gives the best remaining seats.

    Airport counters and bag drop:

    If you're checking a bag or need documents verified, use the counter or bag drop. International flights need more time — arrive earlier than for a domestic hop within South America.

    Boarding groups are firm:

    LATAM boards by group and closes boarding several minutes before departure — the gate can close earlier than you'd expect. Being there early matters.

    Documents for international travel:

    Passports, visas and entry requirements for your destination are your responsibility and are checked before boarding. Several South American countries have specific entry rules, so verify them well ahead.

    Boarding order:

    Premium cabins and higher LATAM Pass members board earlier; the lightest fares board in later groups.
