Two facts do most of the work on this page, so read them together.
GOL draws its lines around age in a way that catches families used to other airlines. The first line is absolute: a child under 8 is not carried as an unaccompanied minor under any arrangement. This is not a fee that gets waived or a service you can request in special circumstances; it is a floor. If the traveler is under 8, a responsible adult has to be on the booking and on the flight with them, full stop.
The second line sits directly above it. From 8 through 15 years 11 months, a child may travel without an accompanying adult, but only through GOL's Voe Junto service, and that service is mandatory. You cannot decline it to save the cost and let the child fly alone unsupervised. Voe Junto is a paid service, quoted before you are charged, and it is billed one fee per leg per person, so a trip with a connection is more than a single charge. Because it is mandatory in this age band, treat it as part of the fare from the start, not an optional extra you might skip.
Voe Junto runs on GOL flights only, never a connection or a partner
The section you cannot copy from a generic minors guide, because it is specific to how GOL scopes the service.
Here is the detail that quietly breaks itineraries: Voe Junto is available on GOL-operated flights only. It does not extend to connecting itineraries, and it does not apply to flights operated by GOL's partner airlines. That matters the moment your plan is anything other than a single nonstop GOL flight. A child traveling from Brasilia to Rio Galeao on one GOL leg is straightforward; a child whose journey involves a connection, or a partner-airline segment on an interline or codeshare ticket, falls outside what Voe Junto covers.
So the practical rule is blunt: build a solo minor's trip as one GOL-operated flight, or do not send them alone. If the only sensible routing has a connection, the answer is not to hope the service stretches to cover it, because it does not; the answer is an accompanying adult or a different plan. This is exactly the kind of constraint a booking engine will happily sell straight through, which is why it is worth putting your child's specific routing in front of us before you pay, so the connection trap is caught on the phone rather than at the gate.
The authorization: notarized, and no digital signatures

Brazil is strict about minors, and GOL enforces that strictness at the counter. Authorization for a minor has to be notarized, either as a public deed or a notarized private document, or it can be replaced by a judicial or Juvenile Court authorization where that applies. What trips people up is not the notary step itself; it is the assumption that a modern electronic signature will do.
A document signed through GOV.BR, DocuSign, Clicksign, D4sign or TOTVS is not accepted. A parent who signs electronically because it is faster can watch the child be refused at the counter, with a document that felt perfectly valid on the screen.
For a trip leaving Brazil, prepare two notarized copies of the authorization, not one. Exit rules for minors leaving the country are set partly by the courts, so the bar is higher than a domestic hop and the margin for a paperwork error is smaller.
Pack the notarized document as a physical original alongside the child's identity papers, and make sure the adult receiving the child on arrival is the person the authorization names. A supervised handover only works if the named adult is actually there.

Ages 16 and 17: not an unaccompanied minor
A lighter category, but not a free pass on documents.
A teenager who is 16 or 17 is not treated as an unaccompanied minor and does not use Voe Junto. They may fly alone with a simpler parental authorization form rather than the full supervised service. That is genuinely easier and usually cheaper, since the mandatory Voe Junto charge does not apply.
Do not read it as no paperwork at all, though. A parental authorization is still expected, and on an international trip the same Brazilian strictness about minors leaving the country still frames what a 16 or 17 year old needs. So the shortcut is real, but confirm the exact form and any exit requirements for your teenager's specific route before you assume they can simply check in like an adult. Before you book, the checklist

Check the age floor and the signature rule before you check the fare. The two ways a GOL minor's trip falls apart are age, a child under 8 who simply cannot fly alone, and paperwork, an authorization signed on a digital platform that gets rejected at the counter. Both are cheap to fix in advance and expensive to discover at the airport.
