How Aeroméxico check-in generally works
General timings plus the verified special-case cutoffs. Exact windows depend on the airport and route.
Check in at aeromexico.com or in the Aeroméxico app, save the mobile boarding pass, and head for bag drop only if you're checking luggage. It's the easiest way and gets the airport queue out of your day.
If you're checking a bag, traveling internationally, or anything about your booking needs a human, use the counter, and arrive earlier than you would for a short domestic hop. Mexico City's Terminal 2 is big, and document checks on international departures take real time.
For an unaccompanied minor, the parent or guardian must arrive 3 hours before departure, on domestic and international flights alike, and must stay at the airport until the flight has actually departed. Plan the whole day around it.
A pet traveling in the hold as checked baggage must be checked in 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. Miss the window and the pet doesn't travel.
Mexico requires a free INM Minor Exit Form (SAM) or a notarized letter when a minor travels with someone who is not their legal guardian, and it applies on domestic flights too, even a grandparent taking a grandchild. It's checked before boarding, sort it days ahead, not at the counter.
Passports and visas are your responsibility and are checked before boarding. Aeroméxico publishes no blanket passport-validity rule, each destination country sets its own, so verify your destination's requirement well ahead, and ask us if you're unsure where to look.
Check-in and boarding cutoffs vary by airport and route, and international document checks add time. If online check-in won't go through or a document question comes up, call us and we'll help you sort it before you travel. Aeroméxico's own tools at aeromexico.com are free.
Your Aeroméxico check-in timeline
The verified special-case cutoffs are the ones that bite. General timings vary by airport.
Before you leave for the airport
A quick pre-flight check that prevents most day-of problems.
- Check in online and save the mobile boarding pass
- Confirm passport, visa and destination entry rules, each country sets its own
- Traveling with a minor who isn't your legal child? SAM form or notarized letter in hand
- Recheck your flight status before leaving
- Know your cutoffs: bags, boarding, and the 3-hour minor / 2-to-3-hour pet windows
The strict cutoffs are the ones nobody warns you about. Three hours early for an unaccompanied minor's guardian, two to three hours for a checked pet, and the SAM form for any minor traveling without their legal guardian, domestic included. If any of these is your situation, call us the week before, not the night before.
