About Aeroméxico

A quick profile of the carrier.

Aeroméxico is Mexico's flag carrier and a member of the SkyTeam alliance. Its main hub is Mexico City International Airport (MEX), where it operates from Terminal 2, with additional domestic flying from Felipe Ángeles International (AIFA) at Santa Lucía. From there it links cities across Mexico with the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia, and on US routes it works hand in hand with Delta through a joint venture, so many itineraries mix the two airlines. Its loyalty program is Aeroméxico Rewards.

Hubs & route network

Where the airline is based and where it flies.

Aeroméxico's network is built around Mexico City, with strong domestic cities and US gateways around it. Your Aeroméxico trip most likely touches one of these:

MEX

NLU
Mexico City, Santa Lucía (AIFA)

GDL
Guadalajara

Mexico City (MEX) is the heart of the network: most connecting itineraries, whether Monterrey to Bogotá or Los Angeles to Cancún, route through Terminal 2 there. On flights between Mexico and the US, Aeroméxico's joint venture with Delta means your connection may be on either airline, which matters for baggage, seats and unaccompanied minors, so tell us your whole itinerary when you call.

Fares & cabins, what's included

Aeroméxico's fares and cabins, from the lowest up. A detail US flyers don't expect: the carry-on allowance is tiered by weight, and the cheapest domestic fare includes no carry-on at all.

Light (domestic)
The lowest domestic fare. A personal item only: no carry-on is included (you can buy one), no checked bag is included, and inclusions are minimal. Best only when price is everything and you pack very light.
Basic
Includes a 10 kg carry-on but no checked bag, and seat selection costs extra. A checked-bag option of up to 25 kg can be purchased.
Classic
Includes a 15 kg carry-on and one checked bag of up to 25 kg and 158 linear cm. The point on the ladder where a normal suitcase is covered.
Flex
The same 15 kg carry-on and 25 kg checked bag as Classic, positioned as Aeroméxico's most flexible main-cabin fare. Exact change conditions depend on your ticket, we confirm them on the call.
Premier / Premier One
Aeroméxico's premium cabins. Premier Basic includes one 32 kg checked bag; Premier Classic and Flex include two 32 kg bags, and three on flights to Asia. Premier One follows the same checked-bag tiers at the top of the range.

Baggage, the essentials

General guidance from Aeroméxico's published allowances. Your exact allowance depends on your fare, cabin and route.

Personal item:

An under-seat personal item is included on every fare, including domestic Light. On Light it's the only bag you get without paying more.

Carry-on is weight-tiered:

Unlike most US carriers, Aeroméxico caps carry-on weight by fare: none included on domestic Light, 10 kg on Basic, 15 kg on Classic and Flex. A heavy roller that sails through on a US airline can be over the limit here.

Checked bags by fare:

Basic and Light include no checked bag, with a 25 kg option purchasable. Classic and Flex include one bag of up to 25 kg and 158 linear cm. The Premier cabins include 32 kg bags, two on Premier Classic and Flex, and three on flights to Asia.

Special items:

Sports equipment, instruments and oversize items follow their own rules and often need advance arrangement. Tell us what you're bringing and we'll confirm before you fly.

We can confirm your exact allowance and pre-pay bags for you, just call.

Check-in & boarding

How to be ready on the day.

Check in online at aeromexico.com or in the Aeroméxico app, then head for bag drop if you're checking luggage. International departures need extra time for document checks, and Mexico City's Terminal 2 is large, so arrive with margin, especially for a morning bank of flights.

Two verified cutoffs are stricter than people expect: a parent or guardian sending an unaccompanied minor must be at the airport 3 hours before departure, domestic or international, and a pet traveling as checked baggage must be checked in 2 hours before a domestic flight or 3 hours before an international one.

Aeroméxico Rewards loyalty program

The airline's frequent-flyer program.

Aeroméxico Rewards is Aeroméxico's loyalty program, where you earn and redeem points on Aeroméxico and, through SkyTeam, on partners including Delta. Higher tiers add benefits on eligible fares. If you have an Aeroméxico Rewards number, give it to us when booking and we'll add it to your reservation so the trip counts.

Aeroméxico: frequently asked

Quick answers, call us for anything specific to your booking.

How do I change or cancel an Aeroméxico flight?+
It depends on your fare: Light and Basic are the most restricted, Classic and Flex allow more. One rule covers every fare: on flights to or from the US booked at least seven days before departure, you have 24 hours to cancel or change without penalty. Have your confirmation number ready and call us, or manage it yourself at aeromexico.com.
Does Aeroméxico have WhatsApp support?+
Yes. Aeroméxico runs WhatsApp on its (55) 5133 4000 number through its Aerobot assistant, with human agents available from 6:00 to midnight. We're also on WhatsApp 24/7 if you'd rather have an independent agent work the problem for you.
What is Aeroméxico Rewards?+
Aeroméxico Rewards is the airline's loyalty program: you earn and redeem points on Aeroméxico and SkyTeam partners such as Delta. Give us your Rewards number when booking and we'll add it to the reservation.
Can my dog or cat fly in the cabin with me?+
Dogs and cats can travel in the cabin when pet plus carrier together weigh no more than 9 kg and the carrier fits the cabin's size limit. Larger pets may travel as checked baggage up to 45 kg including the carrier, with breed and temperature restrictions. Call us with your pet's details before you book.
Can my child fly alone on Aeroméxico?+
Aeroméxico has an unaccompanied-minor service with age bands and route restrictions, and its own pages have shown differing bands over time, so treat any figure as changeable. The verified constants: the accompanying adult must arrive 3 hours before departure and stay until the flight leaves, and US connections work only with Delta. Call us and we'll confirm the current rules for your child's exact trip.
Is Aeroméxico in an alliance?+
Yes, Aeroméxico is a member of SkyTeam, and on US routes it operates a joint venture with Delta, so a single itinerary often includes flights on both airlines.
