How Aeroméxico seats & upgrades generally work
The essentials. Availability and price depend on your fare, route, aircraft and timing.
Aeroméxico's Basic fare does not include seat selection, choosing one carries a charge. Higher fares carry better conditions, and we'll confirm exactly what your ticket includes on the call.
Traveling as a family or group? Select seats as early as you can, especially on busy banks through Mexico City or full holiday flights to Cancún or Guadalajara. On the lowest fares, waiting until check-in is how families end up scattered.
Above the main cabin, Aeroméxico offers Premier and, at the top, Premier One. The premium cabins also bring the bigger checked-bag allowance, one 32 kg bag on Premier Basic and two on Premier Classic and Flex. Buying up at booking is the most predictable path; we can price the difference for your exact flight.
One verified rule worth knowing: Aeroméxico does not seat pregnant passengers in emergency-exit rows. If you're expecting and pick your own seat, choose elsewhere; the airline does provide priority boarding and a priority bag tag.
On joint-venture itineraries, a seat on the Delta-operated leg is assigned under Delta's system, not Aeroméxico's. If your trip mixes both, we'll sort seats on each segment so nothing falls between the two.
Seat and upgrade prices vary by route, cabin and timing and change constantly, so we don't list amounts. Tell us your flight and we'll check what's open and reserve it for you, and our service fee is quoted before anything is charged. Aeroméxico's own tools at aeromexico.com are free.

Ways to end up in a better seat
More than one path, and they suit different budgets.
Pay for exactly what you want
Most predictable
- Buy the seat you want at booking, cheapest way to be sure
- Buy up to Premier at booking for the full premium cabin
- Price the difference before you decide, we quote it on one call
- Book early, the good rows go first on full flights
Work with what your fare gives
Budget-minded
- Higher main-cabin fares carry better seat conditions
- Check-in assignment is the fallback, a gamble for groups
- An Aeroméxico Rewards number on the booking never hurts
- We'll tell you honestly when paying isn't worth it
Booked Basic and want a specific seat? Decide early. Seat selection on Basic costs extra, and the longer you wait the fewer seats are left to pay for. One call and we'll show you what's open on your exact flight before you spend anything.
