How Copa changes & cancellations generally work
The rules in plain language. Your exact fare always decides — we'll confirm it on the call.
Economy Full and Business are the most flexible; Economy Classic sits in the middle; Economy Basic is the tightest and usually can't be changed at all. Knowing your fare is the first step.
Copa's lowest fare typically allows no changes and gives little or nothing back if you cancel by choice. Before you write it off, let us read your exact conditions — sometimes there's more room than it looks.
Tickets purchased in the United States are generally covered by the US 24-hour rule — cancel within a day of booking for a refund. Timing is strict, so tell us quickly if you just booked.
When your fare allows a change, you'll pay any difference in fare if the new flight costs more, and follow the fare's change conditions. Higher fares carry fewer restrictions.
When the disruption is Copa's — a cancellation or a big schedule change — you're generally entitled to a rebooking or a refund, even on a restricted fare.
Change and cancellation conditions depend on your fare, route and how the ticket was issued. We never publish amounts because yours is specific to your ticket — an agent quotes the exact figure, and our service fee, before anything is charged. You can always do it yourself free at copa.com.
