    How Delta changes & cancellations generally work

    No change fee on Delta Main and above:

    For travel within the US and to most international destinations, Delta has eliminated change fees on Delta Main, Comfort, First, Premium Select and Delta One. You'd still pay any difference in fare if the new flight costs more.

    Delta Main Basic is the exception:

    The lowest fare can't be changed, and if you cancel by choice you typically get only a partial eCredit. Don't assume it's hopeless — call and we'll check what your ticket allows.

    24-hour risk-free cancellation:

    Delta lets you cancel any fare within 24 hours of booking for a full refund to your original payment — this applies to every fare type, including Delta Main Basic.

    Cancelling a nonrefundable ticket later:

    Outside the 24-hour window, cancelling a nonrefundable ticket usually converts its value to an eCredit rather than cash. eCredits carry expiry dates and usage rules.

    If Delta cancels or heavily delays:

    You're generally entitled to a rebooking or a refund to your original payment method — even on a nonrefundable ticket.
