How GOL baggage generally works
General guidance. Your exact allowance depends on your fare, route and Smiles status.
A personal item up to 10 kg, about 32 x 43 x 22 cm, is included on all fares including Basic and goes under the seat in front of you. That's unusually generous for a low-cost carrier and the one bag Basic always includes.
A second small bag up to 12 kg is included free on tickets issued from October 2025 on every fare except Basic. On Basic you'd add it separately if you need it.
A standard checked bag is up to 23 kg, maximum 80 x 50 x 28 cm, with detachable wheels removed. Basic and Light include no checked bag; Classic, Flex and Premium Economy include the first; INSIGNIA Business includes the first and second.
A qualifying Smiles tier can add a free checked bag on a fare that otherwise wouldn't include one. Make sure your Smiles number is on the reservation so the benefit applies.
Extra and overweight bags are handled by GOL's own rules and cost more at the counter than in advance. Tell us your fare and route and we'll confirm your allowance and pre-pay what you need.

On Basic? You still get a real carry-on. Basic is GOL's tightest fare, but it still includes the free 10 kg personal item, more than many low-cost carriers give away. If you need a checked bag or the second cabin bag too, add them in advance and call us and we'll price it before the airport.
