How GOL refunds generally work
Whether money comes back usually turns on three things: which fare you bought, who caused the change, and how fast you move.
Flex is fully refundable with no fee. Basic, Light and Classic are non-refundable when you cancel by choice, on international routes Basic, Light and Classic are all non-refundable while Flex and the Premium and INSIGNIA Flex fares are refundable.
The airport boarding fee is refundable regardless of your fare, and it's excluded from any penalty calculation. It's easy to overlook, and we make sure it isn't.
If GOL cancels your flight or makes a major schedule change, a refund is generally available regardless of how restricted the fare was. Airline-caused disruption is the strongest ground for money back.
A GOL ticket bought at least seven days before departure generally qualifies for a full fee-free refund if cancelled within 24 hours of purchase. It's one of the cleaner paths to a refund.
GOL does not publish a dedicated bereavement or death-in-family refund exception. That doesn't mean nothing can be done in a hardship, but it isn't a stated policy, call us and we'll see what's realistic with the airline.
Eligibility depends on your fare rules, route and reason, and GOL overhauled these rules for tickets issued from October 2025. - GOL cancelled or significantly rescheduled
- You hold a Flex fare (or a Premium / INSIGNIA Flex)
- You cancel within the 24-hour regret window
- The boarding fee comes back regardless of fare
A change or nothing is likely when…
Non-refundable
- You cancel a Basic, Light or Classic fare by choice
- Voluntary cancellation returns nothing beyond the boarding fee
- A date change costs a change fee plus fare difference
- No dedicated bereavement fare is published
