How Viva baggage generally works
From Viva's published allowances. Your exact allowance depends on your fare and combo.
Every fare, Zero included, comes with one free under-seat personal item of up to 45 x 35 x 20 cm. That's the entire free allowance. Everything else, including the cabin carry-on, is added and paid for on top.
This is the trap. The overhead-bin carry-on, up to 40 x 25 x 55 cm, is not included on any fare by default, you buy it. Travelers used to US carriers assume the cheap fare keeps the cabin bag, on Viva it doesn't, and airport prices run higher than adding it in advance.
A checked bag runs to 158 linear cm and is a paid add-on, with the weight allowance tied to your combo. Add checked bags when you book, not at the counter, for the same reason, the airport is the expensive place to buy one.
On flights to and from the United States, Viva caps you at three checked bags per passenger, regardless of weight or size. If you're moving more than that, that's a conversation to have before travel day, not at the desk.
Viva's own Carta de Derechos, its published summary of Mexican law, lists a 25 kg checked bag as a passenger right on regulated fares. How that squares with the paid add-on depends on your exact ticket and route, so raise it on the call and we'll help you reconcile it rather than assume either way.
Viva's fee sheet is revised often, and the gap between booking-time and airport prices is real. We never publish amounts, an agent confirms the current figure for your exact bag on your exact flight, before anything is charged.
