How Volaris refunds generally work
Whether money comes back turns on your fare, your route type and your timing.
Volaris publishes a split eligibility rule for cancellation refunds: an international reservation must be at least 7 days from departure, a domestic one at least 24 hours. Which side of that line you're on is the first thing we check when you call.
The Plus bundle includes full refund eligibility, the only Volaris fare that does. On Zero and Basic, a refund by choice is a much narrower path, and the exact outcome depends on your booking, let us read it before you assume anything either way.
The paid add-on, sold only at booking and fulfilled through Volaris's partner Hopper, lets you cancel up to 24 hours before departure and choose an 80% or a 100% refund. It covers credit, debit and PayPal payments and stops applying once you check in. It's the closest thing Volaris sells to an undo button, and it can't be added later.
You're rebooked on the next available flight, and the airline's own published compensation policy adds further commitments when a long delay or cancellation is on Volaris, our flight status guide covers those. If the replacement doesn't work for you, call us and we'll press the alternatives.
Volaris publishes no bereavement or compassionate fare anywhere we could verify. If you're traveling because of a death or emergency in the family, don't count on a special rule existing, the practical paths are the Cancel For Any Reason add-on bought at booking, or a standard change, and we'll work honestly with what your ticket allows.
Eligibility depends on your fare, route type and timing. We never quote refund amounts because yours depends on your ticket, an agent confirms what you're owed, and our service fee, before anything is filed. You can also request it yourself free at volaris.com.

Money back or not, the questions that decide
Almost every Volaris refund case comes down to these.
A refund is realistic when…
Best case
- You're on the Plus fare
- You bought Cancel For Any Reason at booking and act 24+ h out
- Your timing clears the 7-day or 24-hour eligibility clock
- Volaris cancelled and the rebooking doesn't work for you
Little or nothing is likely when…
By choice
- You cancel a Zero or Basic ticket by choice
- You've already checked in
- The eligibility clock has run out
- No bereavement policy exists to fall back on
The undo button is only for sale at checkout. Volaris's Cancel For Any Reason add-on cannot be added after booking, so if your plans have any wobble in them, decide at purchase time. Booking through us? Say the word and we'll price it into the quote before you pay.
