Checking in for your Wingo flight

Wingo online check-in on wingo.com and the app is the way to go, partly because on the lower GO fares airport check-in can cost extra. The other thing that trips people up is documents: Wingo does not publish its own passport and visa tables, it points you to the IATA Travel Centre and the destination consulate, and reminds you that meeting entry rules is your responsibility. Tell us your route and we'll tell you what to carry.

    How Wingo check-in generally works

Online is cheapest and easiest; documents are what get people turned away, so get those right first.

Check in online to avoid a fee:

On GO Basic and GO Standard, checking in at the airport counter can carry a charge, while online check-in on wingo.com or the app is free. GO Plus and GO Extra include airport check-in. Either way, checking in online saves time and often money.

    Documents are your responsibility:

Wingo does not publish its own passport, visa or entry-requirement tables. It directs travellers to the IATA Travel Centre and the destination country's consulate, and states plainly that meeting the requirements is on you. So confirm your documents against the official sources before you fly.

A child needs the right paperwork:

For a minor, the documents depend on whether the trip is domestic within Colombia or international, and on whether the child is travelling with a parent, one parent, or a non-parent adult, civil registry, notarized travel permits and similar can apply. See our related guidance and confirm early.

Know the check-in cutoffs for pets and special needs:

If you're travelling with a pet or need assistance, arrive earlier: pet check-in is generally 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one, and assistance should be arranged in advance. Build that into your airport timing.

    Boarding closes firmly:

As on any airline, the gate closes before departure, and international flights need extra time for documents. Arrive with margin, a late arrival at the gate is one of the few things nobody can fix for you.

Check-in options, fees and document requirements are set by Wingo and by the countries you fly between, and entry rules change. We'll confirm what applies to your itinerary; you can also check in yourself at wingo.com.

What to carry, and when to arrive

Online check-in is free and fast; documents are your responsibility.

Wingo won't check your visa for you. Unlike some carriers, Wingo publishes no passport or visa table and states that meeting entry requirements is your responsibility. On an international trip, confirm your documents against the IATA Travel Centre and the destination consulate before you fly, being turned back at the border is not something anyone can fix at the gate.

    Frequently asked

Does Wingo charge for airport check-in?+
It can, on the lower fares. GO Basic and GO Standard may carry an airport check-in charge, while online check-in on wingo.com or the app is free. GO Plus and GO Extra include airport check-in. Checking in online ahead of time is the simplest way to avoid the fee.
What documents do I need for a Wingo flight?+
Wingo doesn't publish its own passport and visa tables, it points you to the IATA Travel Centre and the destination consulate, and says meeting the entry rules is your responsibility. Confirm your passport, visa and any entry requirements against those official sources before you travel, and tell us your route if you'd like us to check.
What does my child need to fly Wingo?+
It depends on domestic versus international travel and who the child is with. Documents such as a civil registry and, when travelling with one parent or a non-parent adult, notarized travel permits can be required. Note too that Wingo does not carry children under 13 flying alone. Confirm the exact paperwork early and we'll help.
How early should I arrive at the airport?+
Give yourself margin, more for international flights and if you have a pet or need assistance (pet check-in is about 2 hours domestic, 3 hours international). Boarding closes firmly before departure, and missing the gate is one problem we can't undo after the fact.
