About Wingo

A quick profile of the carrier.

Wingo (IATA code P5) is a Colombian and Panamanian ultra-low-cost carrier, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, flying from bases at Bogotá (BOG) and Panama City (PTY, Terminal 2) to points across Colombia, the Caribbean and Central America. Its legal entity is Aero República S.A. Wingo sells four "GO" fare bundles, GO Basic, GO Standard, GO Plus and GO Extra, and has no frequent-flyer program. It is genuinely low-cost, and a few rules catch travellers out: it does not carry children under 13 flying alone, it is strictly point-to-point and does not sell connections, its promotional fares carry no 24-hour regret and are non-refundable, and pets fly in the cabin only, with some destinations banned. Understanding those before you book is the difference between a cheap flight and an expensive surprise.

Hubs & route network

Where the airline is based and where it flies.

Wingo flies point-to-point from two bases. Your Wingo trip departs from one of these, and it will be a single nonstop flight, not a connection:

Bogotá (BOG) and Panama City (PTY, Terminal 2) are Wingo's two bases. Because Wingo is point-to-point, every ticket is a single nonstop; it does not sell or protect connecting itineraries, so a trip that needs two flights is two separate tickets at your own risk.

Fares & cabins, what's included

Wingo's four GO fares, from the lowest up. What each bundle includes is the whole story on a low-cost carrier, so read it before you pick.

GO Basic
The lowest fare: a personal item only (about 40 x 35 x 25 cm), no carry-on, no seat selection and no changes. Non-refundable. Best only when price is all that matters and you travel light.
GO Standard
Adds a 12 kg carry-on (about 55 x 45 x 25 cm) and Flex-1, one free date change. Still no checked bag and no seat choice.
GO Plus
Adds a 23 kg checked bag, a standard seat, airport check-in and Flex-1. A common middle choice for travellers with luggage.
GO Extra
The top fare: everything in Plus, plus an extra-legroom seat, fast-track, priority boarding and WingoFlex, unlimited changes up to 24 hours before departure. Best when your plans may move.

Baggage, the essentials

General guidance. Your exact allowance is set by your GO fare, so the fare and the bag decision go together.

A personal item on every fare:

A personal item, about 40 x 35 x 25 cm, is included even on GO Basic and goes under the seat in front of you. On GO Basic it is the only thing you get free.

Carry-on starts at GO Standard:

A 12 kg carry-on, about 55 x 45 x 25 cm, is included from GO Standard up. On GO Basic there is no carry-on at all, only the personal item, which surprises people at the gate.

Checked bag starts at GO Plus:

A 23 kg checked bag is included from GO Plus up. On Basic and Standard you would add it separately, and adding it before the airport is cheaper than at the counter.

Battery and item rules:

Spare lithium batteries and power banks travel in the cabin only, within the published watt-hour limits; certain items such as food, plants and valuables are barred from checked baggage. Cremated remains may travel in the cabin with a death certificate.

We can confirm your exact allowance and pre-pay bags for you, just call.

Check-in & boarding

How to be ready on the day.

Wingo online check-in on wingo.com and the app is the easiest way in. Because bag allowances and seats depend on your GO fare, sorting the fare first makes check-in simple. On GO Basic and Standard airport check-in may cost extra, GO Plus and Extra include it, so check what your fare covers before you travel.

Wingo does not publish its own passport and visa tables; it points travellers to the IATA Travel Centre and the destination country's consulate, and reminds you that meeting entry requirements is your responsibility. For a child, the documents depend on domestic Colombia versus international travel, and on whether the child is with one parent or a non-parent adult, so confirm the exact paperwork early.

loyalty program

The airline's frequent-flyer program.

Wingo has no frequent-flyer program, so there are no points to earn or redeem and no status tiers. What decides your experience is entirely the GO fare you buy, and how far ahead you book, since the cheapest fares sell out and carry the fewest inclusions. If flexibility or a checked bag matters, pricing a higher GO tier at booking is usually cheaper than adding pieces later, and we can compare them for you.

Wingo: frequently asked

Quick answers, call us for anything specific to your booking.

Does Wingo carry a carry-on on the cheapest fare?+
No. GO Basic includes a personal item only, about 40 x 35 x 25 cm, and no carry-on. A 12 kg carry-on starts at GO Standard, and a 23 kg checked bag at GO Plus. If you're travelling with more than a small bag, price GO Standard or Plus rather than adding pieces to Basic at the airport.
Can my child fly alone on Wingo?+
No. Wingo does not offer an unaccompanied-minor service and does not carry children from 0 to 12 travelling alone, under any arrangement. A teenager aged 13 to 17 may travel alone with valid ID and a parental travel-permission letter. If a younger child needs to fly, an adult has to travel with them, so call us and we'll plan around it.
Does Wingo sell connecting flights?+
No. Wingo is strictly point-to-point, each ticket is a single nonstop, and it does not sell or protect connecting itineraries. If your trip needs two flights, they're two separate tickets, and a missed self-connection is your own loss, with no rebooking help. Tell us the routing and we'll flag the risk before you book.
Does Wingo have a 24-hour free cancellation?+
No. Wingo's tickets are promotional and non-refundable, and it does not apply Colombia's withdrawal rule, so there is no 24-hour free cancellation. You can change some fares for a fee (or free on Flex fares), and an airline-caused disruption gives you a rebooking or a voucher. Tell us what happened and we'll find your best option.
Can I bring my pet on Wingo, and where can't it go?+
Pets travel in the cabin only, there is no cargo hold option, up to a combined 10 kg. Wingo does not carry pets to or from Aruba, Curaçao or Havana. You must book the pet at least 48 hours ahead through the call center, and spots are capped at six per flight, so call us before you book to confirm a spot exists on your route.
