    How Avianca seats and upgrades generally work

    The essentials. Availability and price depend on your fare, route, aircraft and timing.

    Free seat selection depends on the fare:

    Flex includes free seat selection. Basic, Light and Classic usually charge for advance seats, and Basic may assign your seat only at check-in. The higher fares give you the most say over where you sit.

    Preferred and extra-legroom seats:

    Avianca offers preferred seats near the front or with more legroom for a premium on most economy fares. They are limited and go first on busy flights, especially long South America runs out of Bogota.

    Sitting together takes planning:

    Travelling as a family or group? Select seats as early as you can. On full Bogota-connection flights, the best adjacent seats disappear quickly, so booking seats right after purchase pays off.

    Moving up to Business:

    You can buy Business at booking, take an upgrade offer before departure, or use LifeMiles where available. Business Classic is the lighter way in, and Business Flex is fully flexible with the widest allowances.

    LifeMiles status helps:

    LifeMiles elite status get better seat access and upgrade opportunities, plus priority services. Add your number so any benefit is applied to your reservation.

    How do I make sure my family sits together?+
