How Avianca baggage generally works
General guidance. Your exact allowance depends on your fare, route and LifeMiles tier.
Avianca's XS–XXL fares each bundle a different baggage allowance. Lower fares travel light; higher fares and business include more, and often heavier, bags.
Most fares include a carry-on plus a personal item, but the lowest XS fare can be hand-baggage-limited on some routes. Check before you pack a roller bag.
Included from the mid fares upward on many routes; on the lowest fares a checked bag is added for a charge. International routes often differ from domestic Colombia flights.
Pre-paying a checked bag online is generally cheaper than adding it at the counter. This is one of the easiest ways to avoid a surprise at check-in.
Sports equipment, instruments and oversize items usually need to be arranged in advance and follow specific size and weight rules.
Allowances and excess-bag charges vary by fare, route and status, and change often. We don't publish bag prices — tell us your ticket and we'll confirm your exact allowance and pre-pay bags for you.
