Checking in for your Azul flight

Azul online check-in on voeazul.com.br and the app is the easiest way in, and it usually opens well before departure. What trips people up is documents, valid photo ID in Brazil, and for international trips a passport plus any visa, and the newer Europe entry rules. Tell us your route and we'll tell you exactly what to carry.

    How Azul check-in generally works

Online is easiest; the documents are what get people turned away, so get those right first.

Online and the app are easiest:

Check in on voeazul.com.br or the Azul app, usually from well before departure, and get your boarding pass on your phone. It saves the airport queue, especially if you're only carrying cabin baggage.

Domestic Brazil needs valid photo ID:

For flights within Brazil, carry a valid, current photo ID, an RG, a passport, or a driver licence. Old, laminated or damaged documents get rejected at the gate, so check yours before you leave home.

A child needs their own documents:

A minor travelling needs the documents set out on Azul's minor-documentation guidance, and for anyone flying alone the unaccompanied-minor rules apply. See our minors guide, Brazil is strict here.

    International means passport plus visa:

For international departures, Mercosur citizens may use an original national ID or a passport, while others need a passport and any required visa. Check passport validity well ahead, some countries require months of remaining validity.

New Europe rules are phasing in:

Travel to Europe now involves the ETIAS travel authorization and the EES entry-exit system, which are rolling out. If your Azul trip touches Europe, confirm whether you need to register before you fly, we'll flag it.

    Boarding closes firmly:

The gate closes before departure, and international flights need extra time for documents and immigration. Arrive with margin, a late arrival at the gate is one of the few things nobody can fix for you.

Check-in windows, accepted documents and boarding deadlines are set by Azul and by the countries you fly between, and entry rules change. We'll confirm what applies to your itinerary; you can also check in yourself at voeazul.com.br.

    What to carry, by trip

Documents turn more people away than anything else. Get these right first.

    Domestic Brazil
Valid RG, passport or driver licence; not laminated/damaged
    A child on board
The child's own documents; UM rules if flying alone
    Within Mercosur
    Original national ID or passport
    International (elsewhere)
Passport plus any required visa; check validity early
    To Europe
Passport plus the new ETIAS / EES registration as it rolls out

Heading to Europe on Azul? The ETIAS travel authorization and EES entry-exit system are phasing in, and they can catch travellers out. If your trip touches Europe, ask us to confirm whether you need to register before departure, it's easy to miss and not something you can fix at the gate.

    Frequently asked

    When does Azul check-in open?+
Azul online check-in typically opens well before departure on voeazul.com.br and the app. Exact timing varies by route, so we'll tell you your window. Checking in early and travelling with only a cabin bag is the fastest way through the airport.
What ID do I need for a domestic Azul flight in Brazil?+
A valid, current photo ID, an RG, passport or driver licence. Screenshots aren't accepted, and old, laminated or damaged documents can be refused at the gate. If you're travelling with a child, carry the child's documents too.
What do I need for an international Azul flight?+
A passport and any visa the destination requires; Mercosur citizens can often use a national ID within the bloc. Check your passport's remaining validity early, and if you're heading to Europe, confirm the ETIAS and EES requirements before you go.
How early should I get to the airport?+
Give yourself real margin, more for international flights, which need time for documents and immigration. Boarding closes firmly before departure, and missing the gate is one problem we can't undo after the fact.
