What you're owed when Azul disrupts you
Two layers apply: Azul's own contract, and the statutory rights of the country you're flying from. Our delays-and-rebooking guide goes deeper.
Azul's own contract (clause 6.4) mirrors Brazil's thresholds: past about one hour you're owed communication help; past two, food or a meal voucher; past four, lodging plus transfers if it means an overnight. Keep every receipt if you have to pay out of pocket.
For a long delay, a cancellation or denied boarding, you can generally choose a rebooking or a full refund. If your plans no longer work, the refund may be the better call, and we'll help you compare.
If you're bumped involuntarily, Azul's contract sets fixed compensation, more for international flights than domestic. That's on top of the rebooking-or-refund choice, not instead of it.
A Brazil departure falls under ANAC's Resolução 400. A US departure brings US tarmac-delay handling, and Azul's contract mirrors that. Europe brings EC 261. It's easy to miss which rulebook applies, so let us pin it down for your route.
Seats on the next flights fill quickly during a disruption. The sooner you talk to us, the better your rebooking options, don't wait in a long airport line to find out what we can arrange by phone in minutes.
Your entitlements depend on the cause, the length of the delay and the country you depart from, and airlines and regulators change these rules. We confirm what applies and never guarantee an amount; the airline and the statute set that. Our delays-and-rebooking guide covers Azul and the ANAC floor in full.
Azul's assistance ladder (its own contract)
By how long you wait. Statutory rights on top depend on your departure country.
Keep every receipt. If a disruption forces you to buy a meal, a hotel or transport, hold onto the receipts, they're often reimbursable under Azul's contract or Brazil's ANAC rules. And call us before you queue: a rebooking we arrange by phone usually beats waiting at the counter.
