How LATAM changes & cancellations generally work
The rules in plain language. Your exact fare always governs — we'll confirm it on the call.
Economy Basic is the most restricted and often can't be changed at all; Economy Light, Plus and Top progressively allow changes, and the Premium cabins are the most flexible. Knowing your fare is the first step.
Where your fare allows a change, you'd still pay any difference if the new flight costs more than the original. Some fares add a change charge on top; higher fares reduce or remove it.
For tickets issued in the United States, US rules generally let you cancel within 24 hours of booking for a full refund when you booked at least seven days before departure. This is a US-specific protection, not a blanket LATAM policy — check with us if your ticket qualifies.
Outside any refund window, cancelling a nonrefundable LATAM fare by choice usually converts its value to a travel credit rather than cash. Credits carry expiry dates and conditions.
You're generally entitled to a rebooking or a refund — and airline-caused disruptions can qualify even on an otherwise nonrefundable ticket.
Policies vary by branded fare, route, the country of issue and how your ticket was booked. We never publish change or cancellation amounts because yours depends on your ticket — an agent tells you the exact figure before anything is charged.
LATAM fares and how flexible they are
Where your ticket sits decides how easily it changes. Higher = more flexible.
