About Hawaiian Airlines
A quick profile of the carrier.
Flying since 1929, Hawaiian Airlines is Hawaii's largest and longest-serving carrier. It runs the frequent inter-island shuttle between Honolulu, Maui, Kona and Kauai on short single-cabin hops, and long transpacific flights from the islands east to the US mainland and west and south to Asia and the South Pacific. Its loyalty program is Atmos Rewards, and since its merger with Alaska Airlines the two carriers share one booking and content platform. In 2026 Hawaiian joined the oneworld alliance, its first ever, so Atmos Rewards now earns and redeems across oneworld partners worldwide.
Hubs & route network
Where the airline is based and where it flies.
Hawaiian is built around Honolulu, with the neighbor islands as its short-hop core and a set of long-haul gateways beyond. These are the points you will see most often:
Honolulu (HNL) is Hawaiian's home base and the center of its map. Most itineraries either hop between the islands or run long over the water to the mainland, Asia or the South Pacific, so plan connections through Honolulu with extra time.

Fares & cabins, what's included
Hawaiian's cabins from the lowest fare up. Exact inclusions vary by route and aircraft, and inter-island hops are simpler than the long transpacific flights.
Not sure which fare fits your trip and budget? An agent can compare them for you on the call.
Not sure which fare or route is best?
Tell an agent your dates and we'll find the right option, plus phone-only fares across 500+ airlines.
Baggage, the essentials
General guidance. Your exact allowance depends on your fare, route and Atmos Rewards status, and inter-island rules differ from transpacific ones.
Most fares include a carry-on plus a personal item. Confirm the carry-on rules for the lowest fares on your specific route before you fly.
Checked bags generally carry a fee, and the amount and free allowance depend on your fare, route and status. Intra-Hawaii rates differ from mainland and international ones.
Cheaper arranged in advance than at the airport. Surfboards, golf clubs and other special items usually need advance arrangement, which matters a lot for island travel.
We can confirm your exact allowance and pre-pay bags for you, just call.
Check-in & boarding
How to be ready on the day.
Hawaiian online check-in on hawaiianairlines.com and the Hawaiian Airlines app generally opens 24 hours before departure and closes shortly before the flight. Inter-island hops move fast, so give yourself margin, and on transpacific and international flights allow extra time for documents and security.
Boarding is done in groups, and premium cabins and elite status board earlier. If you connect through Honolulu between an island hop and a long-haul flight, know your gates and give yourself a comfortable connection.
Atmos Rewards loyalty program
The airline's frequent-flyer program.
Atmos Rewards is Hawaiian's own loyalty program, where you earn and redeem on Hawaiian flights, and elite status adds priority check-in and boarding, extra baggage and other perks on eligible fares. Since the merger with Alaska Airlines the programs are being brought together, so confirm current earning and redemption on the call. If you have a Atmos Rewards number, give it to us when booking and we will add it to your reservation.
