Change, cancel or fix your JetBlue flight

JetBlue removed change and cancel fees on most fares — but Blue Basic still follows tighter rules. Answer two quick questions and we'll show you what's likely possible, then a live agent can do it for you day or night.

How JetBlue changes & cancellations generally work

The rules in plain language. Your exact fare always governs — we'll confirm it on the call.

No change or cancel fee on most fares:

For Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra and Mint, JetBlue has dropped change and cancellation fees. If you switch flights you'd still pay any difference in fare when the new flight costs more.

    Blue Basic is the exception:

The lowest fare is the restricted one — changes and cancellations are limited and can carry a fee or lose value. Don't assume you're stuck; call and we'll check exactly what your ticket allows.

    The US 24-hour cancellation window:

Cancel any fare within 24 hours of booking for a full refund to your original payment, as long as you booked at least a couple of days before departure — this covers Blue Basic too.

    Cancelling a nonrefundable ticket later:

Outside 24 hours, cancelling a nonrefundable fare usually converts its value to a JetBlue travel credit rather than cash. Travel credit carries expiry dates and conditions.

If JetBlue cancels or heavily delays:

You're generally entitled to a rebooking or a refund to your original payment method — even on a nonrefundable fare.

Policies vary by fare, route and how your ticket was issued. We never publish change or cancellation amounts because yours depends on your ticket — an agent tells you the exact figure before anything is charged.

JetBlue fares and how flexible they are

Where your ticket sits decides how easily it changes. Higher = more flexible.

    Blue Basic
Restricted; changes limited and may lose value or carry a fee
    Blue / Blue Plus
No change or cancel fee; fare difference may apply
    Blue Extra
No change or cancel fees — the most flexible economy fare
    Mint
Premium cabin with the fullest flexibility on eligible routes
    Every fare
US 24-hour cancellation for a full refund when booked ahead

Refund or travel credit? What you'll likely get

It comes down to who cancelled and your fare.

    You cancel by choice

    Most common

    • Nonrefundable fares convert to JetBlue travel credit, not cash
    • Blue Basic is restricted and may lose value
    • Travel credit carries expiry dates and rules
    • Refundable fares return to your original payment

    JetBlue cancels or reschedules

    Better for you

    • A refund to your original payment is generally available
    • Applies even to nonrefundable fares
    • Or free rebooking on the next available flight
    • Significant schedule changes usually count

Use the 24-hour rule. JetBlue's cancellation policy refunds any fare cancelled within 24 hours of booking — including Blue Basic — as long as you booked ahead of departure. If you booked today and aren't sure, call us before the window closes.

    Frequently asked

    Can I change a Blue Basic ticket?+
Blue Basic is JetBlue's most restricted fare, so changes are limited and may carry a fee or lose value — but it isn't always impossible. The exception is the 24-hour window. Give us your confirmation code and we'll tell you exactly what your ticket allows.
Will I get money back or a travel credit?+
It depends on who cancelled and your fare. If JetBlue cancels or significantly changes your flight, a refund is generally available. If you cancel a nonrefundable ticket by choice outside 24 hours, the value usually becomes a JetBlue travel credit. We'll confirm which applies.
    I booked a few hours ago — can I cancel free?+
Very likely yes. JetBlue's 24-hour cancellation gives a full refund on any fare cancelled within 24 hours of booking, provided you booked ahead of departure. The window is strict, so call us quickly.
Do you charge to change it for me?+
Yes — we're an independent agency and charge a service fee for handling your booking, quoted before anything is charged. Any JetBlue fare difference is separate and set by the airline. You can always do it yourself at jetblue.com at no cost.
