BargainAirTicket is an independent travel agency, we are not JetBlue and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by JetBlue. You can change or cancel yourself at jetblue.com or the JetBlue app at no cost, and doing it there also avoids the $25 phone/chat fee below. If you'd rather we handle it, our agents assist for a service fee, quoted before you're charged.

Change or cancel your JetBlue flight

The first thing that matters is your fare. Blue Basic can't be changed at any price, cancelling is your only move, and a cancellation fee applies. Every other fare has no change fee, but you'll still owe any fare difference, and free 24-hour cancellation only works if you booked at least 7 days before departure. Answer a couple of quick questions and a live agent can tell you exactly what your ticket allows, then handle it for you.

First question: which fare did you book? Blue Basic changes everything.

    Blue Basic

Blue Basic cannot be changed at all, at any price. Cancelling is your only option, and a cancellation fee applies, it varies by route, so confirm the amount at jetblue.com. Inside 24 hours of booking a ticket that departs 7+ days out, cancelling gets a full refund instead.

Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, EvenMore or Mint

JetBlue charges no change or cancellation fee on these fares, you pay only any fare difference. Same-day flight change is also available for a fee, waived if you hold Mosaic status.

No change or cancel fee on Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, EvenMore and Mint, pay only any fare difference Free cancellation within 24 hours of booking, if your flight departs 7 or more days out Change or cancel online at jetblue.com/app to skip the $25 phone/chat fee Blue Basic CANNOT be changed at any price, cancelling is your only option Cancel Blue Basic and a cancellation fee applies, confirm the amount at jetblue.com $25 per-person fee applies to bookings or changes made by phone or chat, not online Nonrefundable fares you cancel become a 12-month travel credit, not cash, and tickets generally aren't transferable to someone else

Every JetBlue fare has no change fee, except one.

Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, EvenMore and Mint can all be changed without a change fee, you pay only the fare difference. Blue Basic is the lone exception: it can't be changed at any price, at any time. If your plans shift on a Blue Basic ticket, cancelling, and paying whatever cancellation fee applies to your route, is the only mechanism JetBlue offers, unless you're still inside the 24-hour window.
The 24-hour rule, step by step
    Before you book

Check one thing: does your flight depart 7 or more days from today? Book closer than that and the 24-hour rule won't apply to this purchase at all, on any fare.

The moment you book (if 7+ days out)

You have 24 hours from booking to cancel for a full refund to your original payment, on any fare, including Blue Basic.

    After the 24-hour window closes

Blue Basic locks, no changes at any price, and cancelling now triggers a cancellation fee instead of a refund. Every other fare still has no change fee, though a fare difference applies.

Need to fly the same day, sooner or later?

Same-day flight change is available for a fee, automatically waived if you hold Mosaic, JetBlue's top loyalty tier.

How JetBlue change & cancellation actually works

The mechanics behind the fork above, fare by fare.

No change or cancel fee, Blue and above:

Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, EvenMore and Mint all carry no change or cancellation fee. You'll still pay any fare difference if the replacement flight costs more than your original ticket. JetBlue doesn't publish that difference as a flat number because it moves with your specific route and dates.

Blue Basic: cancel only, and a fee applies:

JetBlue doesn't offer a "change" for Blue Basic at any price, there's nothing to buy. If your plans shift, cancelling is the only mechanism that exists for this fare, and a cancellation fee applies. It varies by route, so confirm the exact amount at jetblue.com rather than assuming a flat figure.

    Same-day flight change:

A fee applies for most travelers, but it's waived automatically for Mosaic, JetBlue's top loyalty tier. It's a separate, often quicker process than a full change or cancellation.

    24-hour free cancellation:

Cancel any JetBlue fare, including Blue Basic, within 24 hours of booking for a full refund to your original payment, as long as your flight departs 7 or more days from your purchase date. Miss that cutoff and this window simply doesn't exist for that ticket, no matter the fare.

Phone or chat costs $25 more:

Book or change a JetBlue flight by phone or online chat instead of jetblue.com or the app, and a $25 per-person fee applies on top of any fare difference or Blue Basic cancellation fee. Doing it yourself online is the one way to avoid this charge entirely.

Nonrefundable fares become a 12-month credit, not cash:

Cancel a nonrefundable JetBlue fare outside the 24-hour window and its value converts into a JetBlue travel credit rather than a refund to your card. That credit is valid for 12 months and has to go toward a new, separately booked ticket.

Name changes aren't really a thing:

JetBlue tickets are generally not transferable to a different traveler. Minor corrections, a misspelled name, for instance, can often be fixed with a call, but don't plan on handing your ticket off to someone else.

These rules are JetBlue's own published fare terms, not ours, they vary by route, date, and fare bucket, and JetBlue changes them without much notice. We'll confirm your exact ticket's rules and quote our service fee before you're charged anything.

    Blue Basic vs. everything else

Two very different sets of rules, depending on which side of this line your ticket falls.

    Blue Basic

    Most restricted

    • Cannot be changed at any price, cancel is your only option
    • Cancelling triggers a cancellation fee, confirm the amount at jetblue.com
    • 24-hour rule still applies if you booked 7+ days before departure

    Blue and above

    Flexible

    • No change or cancellation fee, Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, EvenMore, Mint
    • Fare difference still applies if the new flight costs more
    • Same-day flight change available too, fee waived for Mosaic

Not sure which fare you booked? The fare bucket is usually on your confirmation email or in "Manage Trips" on jetblue.com, or tell us your confirmation number and we'll look it up.

Have this ready before you call

Thirty seconds of prep gets it done on the first call.

    • Confirmation number, the 6-character code on your confirmation
    • Passenger name exactly as it appears on the ticket
    • When you booked, whether your flight departs 7 or more days out decides whether the 24-hour rule applies at all
    • Fare type if you know it. Blue Basic changes everything about what's possible

    JetBlue's phone-vs-online gap, a detail worth knowing

The kind of detail you won't find summarized on jetblue.com itself.

JetBlue's $25 phone/chat fee only ever applies to bookings or changes made by phone or online chat, never to a change you make yourself in "Manage Trips" on jetblue.com or in the app. That's a different mechanic than a generic "agent fee": it isn't about whether a human helps you, it's about which channel you used. Call JetBlue's own reservations line to move a flight and that $25 lands on top of any fare difference, even on a fare that carries no change fee at all, and it applies whether you call JetBlue directly or ask any agency, including us, to make the call for you. It's the biggest reason to try the app first, and it's also why our own service fee, quoted before you're charged, has to earn its keep against a free self-service option that genuinely works for most changes.

Booked Blue Basic and need to change plans? Don't wait past the first 24 hours to decide, after that, the ticket can't be changed at any price, and cancelling triggers a cancellation fee instead of a refund. If you're still inside that window, and you booked 7+ days out, cancelling for a full refund and rebooking may be your best move.

Managing the rest of your trip yourself

Changing or cancelling is only part of it, most of a booking you can manage online, free.

With your confirmation number, "Manage Trips" on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app lets you handle most of this yourself at no cost: pick or change seats, add checked bags, update contact details and TrueBlue info, and review your itinerary. Arrange special requests, a pet, an unaccompanied minor, ahead of time rather than at the gate. When a self-service change fails, a payment won't go through, the site won't recognize your booking, a fare won't reissue, that's the moment a call saves the trip, even with the $25 fee attached.

    Frequently asked

Can I change a Blue Basic ticket on JetBlue?+
No. Blue Basic can't be changed at any price. Your only option is to cancel it, and a cancellation fee applies (confirm the amount at jetblue.com). If you're still within 24 hours of booking and booked 7 or more days before departure, cancelling gets a full refund instead of triggering that fee.
Does JetBlue charge a change fee?+
Not on Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, EvenMore or Mint, none of those carry a change fee, though you'll still owe any fare difference if the new flight costs more. Blue Basic is the one exception: it isn't eligible for a change at any price, so cancel-and-rebook is the only path there.
I booked this morning. Can I still cancel for free?+
Yes, if your flight departs 7 or more days from your purchase date. You have 24 hours from booking to cancel any JetBlue fare, including Blue Basic, for a full refund to your original payment. Miss that 7-day cutoff and the 24-hour window doesn't apply to your ticket at all.
Does it cost more to change my flight by phone instead of online?+
Yes, a $25-per-person fee applies whenever you book or change a JetBlue flight by phone or online chat instead of doing it yourself at jetblue.com or in the app. That fee is separate from any fare difference or Blue Basic cancellation fee, and it's one more reason to try the app first.
If I cancel a nonrefundable JetBlue ticket, do I get cash back?+
No, outside the 24-hour window, cancelling a nonrefundable fare converts its value into a JetBlue travel credit, not a cash refund. That credit is valid for 12 months from the date of issue and has to go toward a new booking.
Can I put someone else's name on my JetBlue ticket?+
Generally, no. JetBlue tickets aren't transferable to another person. Minor corrections, like a misspelled name, can often be fixed by calling, but a full name swap to a different traveler isn't something you should count on. Call us and we'll check what your specific booking allows.
