    How JetBlue refunds generally work

Whether you get cash back usually comes down to two things: your fare, and who caused the change.

    Refundable vs. nonrefundable fare:

Refundable tickets return to your original payment; most published JetBlue fares are nonrefundable and instead convert to a travel credit when you cancel by choice.

    Who cancelled matters most:

If JetBlue cancels or significantly reschedules your flight, a refund to your original payment method is generally available — regardless of how cheap the fare was.

    The 24-hour cancellation rule:

Cancel any fare within 24 hours of booking, when booked ahead of departure, and JetBlue refunds it in full to your original payment. It's one of the friendlier US policies.

    Travel credit instead of cash:

Outside 24 hours, a nonrefundable cancellation usually becomes JetBlue travel credit. Blue Basic is the most restricted here. Credits carry expiry dates and conditions.

    How long it takes:

Card refunds usually take one or more billing cycles to appear. Requesting it correctly the first time is the fastest path — that's where we help.

Eligibility depends on your fare rules, route and the reason for the refund. We never quote refund amounts because yours depends on your ticket — an agent confirms what you're owed before anything is filed.

Will it be cash, travel credit, or nothing?

The two questions that decide almost every JetBlue refund.

    Cash refund is likely when…

    Best case

    • JetBlue cancelled or significantly rescheduled
    • You hold a refundable fare
    • You cancel within the 24-hour window
    • A refund goes to your original payment

Travel credit or nothing is likely when…

    Nonrefundable

    • You cancel a nonrefundable fare by choice
    • Blue Basic is the most restricted fare
    • The fare rules exclude a cash refund
    • Travel credit has expiry dates and conditions

Airline-caused disruption changes everything. Even a nonrefundable JetBlue ticket can qualify for a cash refund when JetBlue cancels or heavily delays the flight — don't assume you're stuck with travel credit. Call us and we'll check.

    Frequently asked

JetBlue cancelled my flight — am I entitled to cash?+
Generally yes. When JetBlue cancels or makes a significant schedule change, a refund to your original form of payment is usually available even on a nonrefundable fare. Call us with your confirmation code and we'll start it.
    I have a nonrefundable ticket. Any options?+
If you're cancelling by choice outside 24 hours, cash is unlikely, but the value usually survives as JetBlue travel credit — with Blue Basic the most restricted. Airline-caused disruptions can still qualify for a refund. Let us check your ticket.
How does the 24-hour rule work?+
Cancel any JetBlue fare within 24 hours of booking — as long as you booked ahead of departure — and you get a full refund to your original payment, whatever the fare type. It's strict on timing, so act fast — we can do it for you.
Do you charge to request a refund?+
Yes — our service fee covers handling the request and is quoted up front. The refund itself comes from JetBlue. You're always free to file it yourself at jetblue.com at no cost.
