How Frontier seats & upgrades generally work

The essentials. Availability and price depend on your fare, bundle, route and timing.

Seat selection is a paid add-on on the base fare:

On the base fare you can pay to pick any seat; if you don't, Frontier assigns one at check-in, which may split your group up. Bundles include seat selection.

    Sitting together isn't automatic:

Traveling as a family or group, buy seat selection or a bundle as early as you can — the best adjacent seats and window/aisle pairs go first, especially on full flights.

    Stretch seating for extra legroom:

Frontier's Stretch seats offer more legroom and better locations for an add-on price, and they're included in the Premium bundle. They're limited and sell out on popular flights.

    UpFront Plus at the front:

UpFront Plus seats are at the front of the cabin with the middle seat kept empty — Frontier's most comfortable option, included in the Business bundle or bought separately.

Frontier Miles helps as you climb tiers:

Higher Frontier Miles elite tiers can unlock seat perks; add your Frontier Miles number so any benefit applies to the booking.

Seat prices vary by seat type, route and timing and change constantly, so we don't list amounts. Tell us your flight and how many are traveling, and we'll check what's open and reserve the right seats for you.

Seat options by fare and bundle

General guidance — what's included and what's paid depends on your fare and route.

    Base fare
Seat assigned at check-in unless you pay to pick one
    Standard seat selection
Paid on the base fare; included in the Economy bundle
    Stretch (extra legroom)
Add-on price, or included in the Premium bundle
    UpFront Plus (front, empty middle)
Add-on price, or included in the Business bundle

Ways to get a better seat

More than one path to Stretch or UpFront Plus — availability varies by route and day.

    Pay per seat

    Most flexible

    • Pick any open seat on the base fare for a price
    • Choose Stretch for extra legroom
    • Choose UpFront Plus for the front row, empty middle
    • Price and space vary by route and demand

    Buy a bundle

Best when you need bags too

    • Economy bundle includes standard seat selection
    • Premium bundle includes a Stretch seat
    • Business bundle includes an UpFront Plus seat
    • Often cheaper than buying seat + bags separately

Pick seats the moment you book, not at check-in. On the base fare Frontier assigns your seat at check-in and can split your group — buying seat selection or a bundle early is the reliable way to sit together.

    Frequently asked

Can I choose my seat for free on Frontier?+
On the base fare, seat selection is a paid add-on; if you skip it, Frontier assigns a seat at check-in. Bundles include seat selection. Tell us your fare and route and we'll confirm what picking a specific seat takes.
How do I make sure my family sits together?+
Buy seat selection or a bundle as early as possible — ideally right after booking — because without it Frontier may seat you apart. If good adjacent seats aren't showing, call us and we'll look at the map for the whole party.
What's the difference between Stretch and UpFront Plus?+
Stretch seats give extra legroom and better spots in the cabin; UpFront Plus seats sit at the front with the middle seat kept empty for more space. Stretch comes with the Premium bundle and UpFront Plus with the Business bundle. We'll tell you which is on your aircraft.
Is a bundle a better deal than buying a seat alone?+
Often, if you also need bags. A Premium or Business bundle folds a better seat, bags and priority into one price. Give us your trip and we'll compare a bundle against à-la-carte so you're not paying blind.
