About Allegiant Air

A quick profile of the carrier.

Allegiant Air is an ultra-low-cost leisure carrier that flies point to point, connecting smaller US cities directly to popular vacation spots rather than routing through big hubs. Its model is simple to describe: a low base fare, then you pay for the things you want, such as bags, seat selection and the Trip Flex change add-on. That keeps the headline price low but means the total depends on what you add. Allegiant does not sell connecting itineraries the way a network airline does, and it does not offer an unaccompanied-minor service.

Hubs & route network

Where the airline is based and where it flies.

Allegiant flies point to point rather than through a single connecting hub. It operates from around two dozen small and mid-size cities across the country, and its focus cities can change from season to season. A few of the busier points include:

LAS
Las Vegas
Largest focus city
SFB
Orlando Sanford
Florida focus city
PGD
Punta Gorda
Florida focus city
PIE
St. Pete-Clearwater
Florida focus city
AZA
Phoenix-Mesa
Southwest focus city

Allegiant is point to point, not hub and spoke. Most routes connect a smaller home-city airport directly to a vacation destination, often only a few days a week. Because there is usually no connecting bank of flights, a cancelled Allegiant flight can be harder to rebook quickly, so it pays to act fast when plans change.

Fares & cabins, what's included

Allegiant flies a single economy cabin. What changes is not the class of service but how much legroom your seat has and what you have added to the base fare.

Base fare seat
A standard economy seat, assigned for a fee or given at check-in if you do not pay to choose. The cheapest way to fly Allegiant, with nothing else included.
Seat with more legroom
Allegiant sells its roomier seats, including exit rows and the front of the cabin, as paid upgrades. A modest step up in comfort on a longer leisure flight.
Allegiant Extra
A small block of premium seats on many aircraft with extra room and priority perks, sold as an upgrade. Availability depends on the plane flying your route.

Baggage, the essentials

General guidance. On Allegiant almost every bag beyond a personal item costs extra, and adding bags in advance is cheaper than at the airport.

Personal item:

One personal item that fits under the seat is included free. This is the only bag that comes with the base fare.

Carry-on and checked bags:

Both a carry-on and checked bags cost extra on Allegiant, priced by route and how early you buy. Add them when you book to pay the least.

Overweight, oversize and special items:

Heavier or larger bags and special items such as sports gear carry their own charges and limits. Arrange them in advance rather than at the gate.

We can confirm your exact allowance and pre-pay bags for you, just call.

Check-in & boarding

How to be ready on the day.

Allegiant online check-in on allegiantair.com and the Allegiant app generally opens well before departure and is the easiest way to confirm your seat and add bags. Printing a boarding pass at the airport kiosk or counter can carry its own fee, so checking in online first is worth it.

Because Allegiant flies point to point with limited daily frequencies, arrive with time to spare. If a flight is disrupted there may not be another Allegiant departure the same day, which makes getting help quickly more important than on a big network airline.

Allways Rewards loyalty program

The airline's frequent-flyer program.

Allegiant's loyalty and card program lets frequent leisure travelers earn toward future travel, and its co-brand credit card adds perks on Allegiant purchases and packages. It is a lighter program than the big airline networks. If you have an Allegiant account or card, mention it when booking and we will make sure it is on your reservation.

Allegiant Air: frequently asked

Quick answers, call us for anything specific to your booking.

How do I change or cancel my Allegiant flight?+
It depends on whether you bought Trip Flex. With Trip Flex you can change or cancel once without the usual fee, up to a cutoff before departure. Without it, changes and cancellations carry a per-passenger, per-segment fee, and cancellations very close to departure may not be refundable at all. Have your confirmation number ready and call us, or manage it at allegiantair.com.
What happens if Allegiant cancels or delays my flight?+
You are generally entitled to rebooking on the next available Allegiant flight or a refund, and a controllable disruption can add meal or hotel support. Because Allegiant flies point to point with few daily frequencies, the next flight may not be same-day, so call us right away and we will work your options.
Does Allegiant offer an unaccompanied-minor service?+
No. Allegiant does not offer an unaccompanied-minor program, so a young child cannot fly alone. Children fourteen and under must travel with someone at least fifteen. See our Children flying page for the details.
How do I travel with a pet on Allegiant?+
Small cats and dogs can travel in the cabin for a per-segment fee, arranged in advance. Call us and we will set it up correctly on your reservation, or arrange it yourself at allegiantair.com.
